I think you are referring to the 6" Coil for the CTX 3030 if you are I have only used it on a strong stubble field and only for 3 hours.
With the 6" coil on it felt out of place with such a sturdy machine and what felt like a cotton bud stuck on the bottom of the shaft so I reverted to the 11" stock coil, I would say the 6" coil would come into its own when working under water or a iron infested site neither of which I will be detecting at.
The same results can be got using Target Trace or Ferrous / Coin if there is quite a bit of iron about when using the 11" coil as the non-ferrous builds a large identity on the screen.
There is not much information about on the 6" coil because I don't think many have bought it.

YOU WILL NEVER FIND IT IF IT AINT THERE OR LOST.

thats the only coil i have used recently and so far have had nearly 40 small roman bronzes 1 hammered 2 cut halfs a broken cut half a couple of roman brooches and a saxon sceat so id say it is a good coil. very good for stubble. but i also used it all day yesterday on rough plough that had settled abit and it was good on there to as i could detect very close to the ground.

    Very interesting
Blown all my money on the machine right now but it's one for the future! Did you use te baby sef on the Etrac? And if so how does it compare?

Re: Anyone tried the small coil ?

yes used the baby SEF it was probably my favourite coil for the etrac. i dont think the 6" coil is deeper than the SEF but it gets through stubble better id say, it really is a tiny coil you think how am i going to find anything with this little thing but if you have decent land it will find the goodies.

Its a brill little coil in amongst the iron . I can see my larger coil being made redundant.
