    Re: 2012 Corfe Update.

Only about 2 1/2 weeks now....I'm flying over the morning of the 27th to take care of some other stuff before the rally. Can't wait! Looking forward to seeing everyone again this year!

Tony, good point about it being a bit later in the year this time around....definitely gonna pack my rain gear and wellies, and clothing more suitable for autumn than summer. May be wishful thinking, but I'm so VERY ready for cooler weather after the hellishly hot summer we've had here in the South!

Not looked at the poll that was started some time back but would think around 70 sure Tony can confirm.

    Re: 2012 Corfe Update.

Latest Corfe update. It very much looks like we are going to be allowed to go on the new land where George our farmer lives, will get the final go ahead next week. His landlord has said yes to him but he just needs to call me and confirm.
He is shortly going to be putting in some planning applications for other uses on parts of the farm and is very interested in what there might be history wise laying in his fields so I think he is going to ask that he gets a look at items we find. I think if we get the permission we will arrange it for the saturday and maybe I will invite him to the campsite saturday evening so that he can chat and view any finds made.
I will have maps printed hopefully of where we can go on this farm, I know of at least two fields by a church that could throw up some medieval finds but the whole farm is unknown territory, I have never detected on it so who knows what we will find, it may be totally useless but at least we will have tried.

The land going up sandy lane is in various stages of cultivation, the first two fields on the right are disced rape stubble and it was sprayed to kill the top weeds yesterday so should be perfect for the end of the week.
The block of fields on the left going up the lane are stubble that might be ploughed and cultivated during this week depending on the weather. The rest of the fields going up the lane on the right are stubble waiting to be ploughed, some of them are Oat stubble which is a lot softer than wheat so shouldn't be a problem. The top two fields are freshly sown rape so will need to be repaired more carefully after digging.

See you all there, Happy hunting once again.

    Re: 2012 Corfe Update.

Thanks again Tony. Weather forecast so far is for showers up to and including Thursday, my BBC crystal ball goes no further than that.

I've just spoken to Offa and the quiz is looking unlikely, he's been really busy and I only got 2 responses to the "would I lie to you" thread. Beer and hospitality might make us change our minds

See you all later in the week.

We can cope with showers.... The shorter among us may drown though

Just waiting for Offa to get a new tyre (sigh) then we'll be on our way.
