    2012 Corfe Update.

Had a word with our Farmer with the village fields and he's up together pretty well with harvesting so hopefully he will soon get on with some groundworks. He still has a month to knock it into good shape for us, hopefully he will be ploughing rather than just discing a lot of it.

This year i have decided to have a change on the Saturday night food front. I am arranging for Billy the resident grub van guy at Norden to do us a Hog Roast. Doing a one off BBQ and the curries like we have done for the past 2-3 years is difficult to plan, very wasteful as in we had a lot left last year plus it ties some of us up all day on the saturday shopping and organising then cooking when we should all be enjoying the detecting every chance we get.
Its going to be far simpler if everyone just queues and pays billy for the number of Hog rolls they want on the night. Maybe if we have any vegetarians planning to be there they can let me know and we can see if we can arrange an alternative.
Im not sure yet also whats going to happen on the Raffle front. As everybody knows Gary is going to be there for a final year but he's no longer the owner of the forum so may not want to be involved as MC as in the past. It might be a good chance to look at doing things slightly differently maybe as far as how the Raffle and evening entertainment is carried out. There will definitely be a campfire if somebody digs a pit. What we have to consider is the nights will be drawing in a lot sooner being a lot later in september and its more likely to be wet & cold so do people want to chance sitting outside for 3-4 hours.

Lets have some ideas please. I also need an idea how many are still coming to Corfe so that we can judge the catering and get the right size Pig on the spit.

IF YOUR ON THE CORFE LIST AND YOU CANT NOW COME PLEASE POST TO THAT EFFECT, THANKS.

    Re: 2012 Corfe Update.

Tony, thanks again for getting it all organised, as you say there's enough to do without a core of people having to give up their saturday to get the food ready.

I'm still going, Offa is a bit off the radar at the moment but I know he's still going.

I'm available for fire pit digging duties (one hole I won't need to fill in )

Offa and I thought about putting a quiz together, is there any demand?

Hi Tony, it sounds brilliant bit I'm afraid I will not be able make the trip this year since there's a heap to do around the house - painting and garden must be done this year! Less time for detecting so my apologies

I will be there and I am already packed. The hog roast is a great idea.
I would like to have a target challenge in the early evening during Corfe. The quiz is also a great idea.
Looking forward to it so much.
    Thanks for the update Tony.
PS you still have the NEL Tornado? I would like to rent it maybe if the price is right.

Some great ideas Tony, especialy the hog roast. As the nights will be getting colder ive ordered a litre bottle of Woods navy rum, thats to drink on the Monday night, I seem to remember it went down pretty well last time I got one.
If there is anything I can help with let me know.

    Nice
Sometimes the wood is a bit scarce and we have to cart old farm bits but it has been fine. Usually the farm hand brings us a load of junk to burn.

Damn good idea on the hog roast - less time at Tesco = more time to enjoy the day A quiz night sounds great too We can all bring some firewood from Bedford or home if needed ... there simply has to be a fire pit !!

The truck carries about 1.5 ton so I doubt we'll get cold.

I still have it scotty but I will be looking to sell it along with an 8x6 SEF ( both have lower stems) after corfe. I also have a 13" Excelerator coil for sale. All three will fit Explorer / ETracs. I might do you a swap for a scoop suitable for river use if your interested.

    Re: 2012 Corfe Update.

Right guys. Those that can bring some wood, bring it please, we can have a fire every night . The quiz can happen also if David and Offa would like to organise that. The quiz could be on another evening maybe after dinner at the pub. All prizes for the Raffle and the Quiz gratefully received. If somebody else would like to organise the raffle but in a lower key format that would also be gratefully received. The Raffle in its old format of having to tell a joke or sing a song was getting terribly drawn out and long winded this last year or two, time for change methinks.

PLEASE KEEP POSTING UP IF YOUR STILL COMING OR NOT THIS YEAR AS I WILL NEED TO TELL BILLY THE SIZE OF PIG WE WILL NEED.
COURSE IF YOUR ALL GONNA BUY TWO OR THREE HELPINGS ITS GOING TO HAVE TO BE GINORMOUS.
I CAN JUST SMELL IT NOW mmmmmm.
