Some Question after first 2 days with the CTX

    CTX 3030
    Hi Guys,

after my first two days with the CTX I my first learning expieriences.
Overall the impression is quite good. I am really surprised how clear the signal is on the small roman folles.
But I am still struggling with some settings.

I figured out that running without discrimination pattern, just with tone ID's matches best my style. I normally want to hear where the iron is too, although I don't dig it. I used mixed tones and assigned iron below 24 lowest possible frequence. Pretty much as I had it on my V3i.

I also used auto sensivity +3, since higher manual settings became to unstable. The sensivity however tuned it self up no higher than 21. As a result (?) I did not find any deeper targets.coincidence).

Now to my question. Can I raise sensivity manually higher when I use discrimination patterns (other than all blank)? Or is it more a question of get used to the machine and learn whats false alarm and what not?

    Any insights greatly appreceated.

    J.

i use a tadpole discrimination pattern and run manual 30 and conductive 50 in almost all conditions, i do get some falsing but you soon learn the sounds.
you can still hear the iron because the threshold drops away when you go over it.

Yes you can raise or lower your sensitivity in The manual Setting with discrimination.

Yes, I tried it out. Works great, but I still dig quite some deep iron.

ive been had by that iron a few times now you would think you would stop digging at 15 plus inches but it just a learning process i found it is a singnal that is slitly diffrent but im digging it because off how new i am to the machine.

If you lift the coil about 6 to 8 inches above the target, if it,s iron it will null, if you still got a signal or the signal disappears, dig it!
The above is just the opinion of Flossyrockstar and not of anyone he is associated with. This post may contain diatribe of a contentious and sesquipedalian nature. Terms and conditions apply, may contain nuts, always read the label.

    Hey Flossyrockstar,

thanks for the hint, but I fail understand what you mean with "iron will null", meaning when iron dissappears in smartfind? If you have two targets (one deep iron and one non iron) and you lift coil, it can be that iron still shows, but non iron disappears.
Especially deep iron gives me often the problem that it shows like two targets. Sometime there are two targets, but most of the time it is just a deep bigger iron.

    Any ideas to that?

what he means is the threshold will disappear as u start to lift coil you will lose signal and the threshold null over target.
