Similar insignia have been used by Australia, NZ, Britain....if you look up "flaming bomb" or "flaming grenade insignia" in Google images you'll get all sorts of similar pictures. In the US I think this insignia was called the Shell and Flame and used by the Ordnance Corps.

Yes, here in the UK it would be a grenadiers badge.

Found a lot of coins in this park which could of circulated during the WWII era. Some even during the WWI era.
