    Question CTX Good or bad?

    CTX 3030
Reading all the problems people are having with the ctx,how many users have had no problems at all,is build quality,a bad batch, or user error at fault? Also what happens to all the new machines that are sent back to the dealers,do they go back to minelab repaired and sold as new again?

Working great no problem at the moment with the CTX, but still the biggest problem is the exchange and MAC

Well even though my Detector is going back to Joan Allan,im sure the teething problems will sort them selves out and that the vast majority of the Ctx are fine.
Forums can bring out unrealistic views on numbers of problems with Detectors Cars, you name it, as people post their problems directly on to the forums,so people invariably at times get a warped view of how a particular model is actualy doing, when in reality the problems are relatively small which i am certain the Ctx falls in to.
After all this is a Minelab forum and you will hear mainly about Minelab problems with different detectors.

no problems here either, didn't do any upgrade yet as it seems to be running fine without it. good solid bit of kit.

wouldnt a master reset sort that Mike - or do the updates stay ?
if they do stay and it is the update ..that means theres a chance that updates in the future if carrying a bug could impact a purfectly fine machine.
i must admit im not convinced its the update - but agree theres a possibility.

Very very true. For the most part people don't post and say, "FYI, my CTX is working with no problems." So the posts with problems seem to really stick out even though the vast majority of CTX users are happily hunting each day, finding great stuff, and having no problems.

I bought mine on the first day and have never had a single problem. I'm impressed with the build quality and it's a joy to swing for long hours.

You little devils - you're just trying to talk me into buying one aren't you? I think that you are about to succeed. Maybe my share of the med. ring treasure award will be enough when it finally appears.

    Re: CTX Good or bad?

Ive not had a single problem with mine, ive read the threads with people having problems and wondered if these were from a particular batch etc. I got mine the week after the official launch date i think it was around the 5th June, was supposed to be dispatched on the 28th but there was only limited stock delivered to Joan Allan's so it came a few days later. My serial number is 40447501456

tombs - did the update rectify yours switching itself off - thought you had said that had happened.
if the update has repaired it - maybe we can eliminate that as been the problem for the "few" who have experienced the same.
then it does also leave the question - what was the update - and what did it update?

it would be nice then for minelab to say what was the problem with those few and how it was addressed to give people confidence once again - we all agree that confidence in ones machine is paramount to enjoying your detecting.

No probs with mine. As others said, the forum sort of exemplifies or exagerates certain things due to attraction, complaining, etc.

Case in point: I have a mac and would love for the CTX to work with it (Exchange II). Mac is what 5% - 10% of the market? Look at the replies in the mac thread, you would think it's the opposite.

For the amount of cash you guys are paying for this machine I would be of an opinion that both PC & MAC should be catered for. And should have been right from the off!

I agree and hope they do add that functionality. Right now I'm using my girlfriends computer as I don't hook the CTX up that often - don't want to go through the hassle of adding software and windows to my Mac right now - it's working so well

I haven't had any problems with mine... Everything great here.... The only problem I have is that there is something loose and rattling around in the wireless module... It still works fine though... Thinking about opening it up and seeing what it is.

I've been detecting alongside one a few times, and it's good. I have faith that if someone gets one with "issues" Minelab will sort it out.

My only dilemma is whether its worth the cost of upgrading from the E-trac... I'm still thinking about that one, but less urgently than I was.
