It's well worth the investment, read it, tweak the machine, detect for a couple of weeks, go back to the book and tweak a bit more. There's so much useful info in there that it's impossible to take it all in.

We do try, the book is great and full of usefull info for all Explorer/Etrac users.
Andy Sabisch really knows how to put things in an easy to understands way.
The above is just the opinion of Flossyrockstar and not of anyone he is associated with. This post may contain diatribe of a contentious and sesquipedalian nature. Terms and conditions apply, may contain nuts, always read the label.

You will see a few bits and bobs from MLO members from a few years back in the book. Jerry.

PS Just out of interest Andy Sabisch is now a very pro Deus man and he certainly does know his stuff.

Thats a big loss then because going through his book is like a light going on. Its a fantastic insight in to Minelab machines and I just know I have purchased the right machine for me. He has covered lots of things I needed to know and I can see my finds rate increasing from it.

Re: The Minelab Explorer & Etrac Handbook

Everything your hearing about the Blisstool Is sadly true Steve, Ive had one a few weeks now and can't stop digging deep holes with it. Had several Roman bronzes with it tonight before i switched back to the CTX for a little change, to be fair I found some with that also but not quite so deep
The Bliss looks a bit daunting with all its knobs etc but after just a few outings it all becomes easy peasy. Having been spoilt over the years with the Explorers I havent been used to using detectors like the bliss so to start with I was tending to dig a little iron but even thats gone away for the most part now. Its an ideal machine to use as an alternative to your usual first choice machine for a break. It definitely has top end performance and is currently very well priced at £700 with an 11" & 15`'coils in the box. I'm enjoying using the CTX and the Bliss these days two very different detectors so plenty of options.

Finally sold both my beloved ETRAC today and also the remaining pieces of the Deus that I should never have bought ( actually got all my money back on that one bar about 50 quid by making two detectors out of it which was a result) I have never had a detector that promised so much when purchased but ended up being such a let down when used behind the ET.

Hi Tony, glad that all went well for you with the detector sales.

Quite a few new detectors about these days especially from eastern Europe, and are very good value for money. Jerry.

Re: The Minelab Explorer & Etrac Handbook

I bet he writes one on the XP Deus first.

Jost go to Find`s Treasure Forums site under Deus section to see where Iam coming from.

I say that as one of the longest and oldest Minelab owners who still wears all their clothing but not swinging a heavy machine anymore.

We used to have a saying "Every Dog has its day" dont hear it much of late.

Time for another coffee I think and perhaps a short spell detecting when the rain stops. Jerry.

Re: The Minelab Explorer & Etrac Handbook

As Mr Hunt said, when you have been spoiled by the E-trac.
And weight isn't a problem, the Deus is a human interface let down!

I'm not complaining about it's detecting capability, just the fact that in their minimalist effort at fabricating a light detector.
They have not given the human interface enough attention.

These days I'd rather swing a hipmounted sovereign or the X-terra.
Maybe I'm going to check out another brand running at 12kHz, Basic1 isn't that basic at all!
Found some pretty nice stuff with it.

Tony wrote,........"I have never had a detector that promised so much when purchased but ended up being such a let down when used behind the ET. ".

Largely unfair comment that Tony to be honest ,as there are plenty of people out there using the Deus who would disagree with you tremendously.
I think if you took the over all story about your "fling" with the Deus, you probably went into it half heartedly anyway with possible reservations because you were so content with your E trac that you were only trying the Deus after other peoples success with it that you hoped you could get it to rub off on you . Some times it happens other times it doesn`t. I think in your case the Deus was never going to succeed because of your deep rooted love with your E trac .
Playing away behind your girlfriends back was never going to succeed now was it. So now you`ve found another girlfriend to take its place at the moment . Does your 3030 know your cheating on it with that Bulgarian floozy too I wonder ?
A man of your age should be ashamed of your philandering ways. I`m wondering how long THIS "affair " will last, before you finally repent your lustful affairs and go back to remaining faithful to your Minelab sitting at home unaware of the cheating going on your partaking in ?

Re: The Minelab Explorer & Etrac Handbook

    Jeb!
Nice one Jeb! However, I recently ordered a Blisstool rather than a Deus for the track spare. I like the Etrac that I've been using for a year (or two - er - or five....) It's me brain Guv, it remembers details several hours after they were needed! Trouble is, it was getting heavier - so I've recently taken to hanging it on a bungee thingy and, after a short acclimatisation, I've got the adjustments about right so the weight is no longer a problem.
There's a lot to be said for having a choice of machines - like the Etrac is not fond of newly ploughed or cultivated soil. Until now I've used a Hawkeye for that job.
I'm impressed with the Bliss videos. To me they seem kosher - we'll see!
Why not the Deus? Well, it is light, but it is French and I try not to buy French. I stopped buying their wine years ago but if I am given a glass or bottle then it would be rude to refuse.

Not unfair at all Jeb. I left the ETrac at home purposely for several months while I caned the Deus using both coils and using everybodys setups including yours probably but it just didn't perform and find anymore where we have been using ETracs and Explorers for years and where my mate was still pulling up good finds every trip out using his ETrac. The whole experience was totally frustrating. I gave it every chance to perform but it had to go. Had I been using it on new undetected farms and rally fields then Im sure the results would have been different for a while till the surface finds were exhausted once again.
You made a big big mistake getting rid of your Bliss so soon, this machine is making finds where the Others had pretty much cleared or so we thought. I used the CTX and Bliss equally last night, both with their large coils on, for a couple of hours each, and found roman with both so no frustration anymore and a lot of money back in the bank from the sale of the ETrac and Deus.
