Not a coin but being made of copper alloy this method would no doubt work on coins as well. Just a liberal soaking in lemon juice for 24 hours then in clear vinegar for another 24 hours with the occasional nail scrape (finger nail!) to get the worst of the crud off then a good rub with your fingers. I must have fingerprints like sand paper because it works a treat and doesn't damage the object. Dry off then a coating of Iron Paste and a polish with a clean cloth then hey presto! Something that was destined for the 'tat' draw turns into something that can be recorded on UKDFD - Job done I know it's only a lowly thimble but it's nice to bring something back from the dead and practice makes perfect so they say!

Thanks, and well worth the clean up I assure you.... it's a little bit older than I expected :banana: I've heard of a Nuremberg Jeton but never a Nuremberg Thimble.
