Why Waste time using an ordinary detector when you have the option to use a GPX4800.

Totally fecked thats a fact and its spreading everywhere. We have loads of it being produced on the outskirts of Bournemouth & poole and it aint going to go away. As well as signing petitions get around your farmers and warn them about all the crap thats in it. Ive managed to talk one farmer out of trying it. I saw one field stacked high with it the other day waiting to be spread, luckily the land was owned by the National trust so detecting would never be allowed on it anyways.

That's so fecking disgusting it should be on a current affairs program. It's a farce and someone is making money from it or avoiding their responsibility to dispose of it dutifully, and instead they are trashing the country side. I hope the people involved cop their own payload in their garden!

I believe separation should be at the point of consumption. It's the only way to really invoke people to think and recycle.

    Good work Neil!

Hi Neal, I unfortunately can not sign up (cause I'm not British) but I'd like to ask your permission for a good photo. I'dI like to have a stab at getting this into the New Scientist either as a reply to an article, such the recent "Waste not..." march 3, 2012 pg 5 ... or to just to get the visibility as a serious environmental issue that needs to be immediately acted upon. I'd return the article to you, and you can put your name and links to it if you like, just before I send it in.

In the history of mankind how many signed petitions have changed the outcome ?
And the few that have, they were changed because of the good for all people.
5000 metal detectorists signing because it spoils our hobby !

Tell ye, one person will see your petition, the secretary then it is in the bin.

Your better off going on a march through London centre, getting locked up....so I can go on your southern gold fields..ha

Re: Green waste petition pease sign !

It's not just about the hobby of metal detecting. what you have to remember it that these fields grow crops that eat. What sort of impact could this rubbish have on the things we eat.

Signed it a while back. But I do agree with Ghost to a degree. The stuff that is spread all over the fields is a project backed by all parties including The Green Party. It's subsidised and incentives are given to land owners to use this stuff. It's all part and parcel of our great British recycling system and I seriously doubt anything will be done. As a matter of fact it will only get worse. Why? Because no one except a few hundred detectorists are concerned. Incidentally all this 'recycling' of green waste is run under European legislation and we have two hopes of changing it - Bob Hope and No Hope!!! But what the hell, we can try I suppose.

I know what you and Ghost are getting at.... But the way i figure we have to have ago if everyone thinks like that we doomed....

Also as turbo-beal said "It's not just about the hobby of metal detecting. what you have to remember it that these fields grow crops that eat. What sort of impact could this rubbish have on the things we eat."

I also believe that Green Waste also spreads Phytophthora ramorum "sudden oak death" but this is a hard thing to prove... I work on a private estate that has the biggest collection of privately owned trees in Britain and it has Phytophthora ramorum there... Myself and the Head Gardener believe that it's come in through Green Waste.... It not funny when you have to cut down a national champion tree planted by the victorians because of this rubbish...

"Your better off going on a march through London centre, getting locked up....so I can go on your southern gold fields.." Ghost your never getting on my southern gold fields..

    Cheers,
    madcow...

Signed it from elsewhere but a shameless bump ............. if I dumped my household waste in the countryside its called fly-tipping. If there`s less than 10% metal & its shredded its "recycling".
Spent Sunday doing some research for the campaign......marked a 10mtr square, 80+ targets, now some I knew were alloy (bouncy cross hairs or sitting half into the bottom of the screen) but for the experiment I still dug them, but some of the thicker alloy fragments were bang on hammered/silver. Then there was all the plastic rubbish.....combine that with it being mashed MDF units on this farm (isn`t the glue toxic?) and they`re growing food in it.
